(CNN) - On the morning of Thursday, the president of the United States sent a tweet to his more than 60 million followers in which he criticized a 16-year-old girl with Asperger syndrome who has been determined to fight against change Climate around the world.

"Greta must work on her anger management problem and then go see a good old-fashioned movie with a friend!" Trump wrote about climate crisis activist Greta Thunberg. "Relax, Greta, relax!" He finished.

This is not the first time that Trump attacks Thunberg. "She looks like a very happy girl who expects a bright and wonderful future," Trump said sarcastically on Twitter after the speech Thunberg delivered to the United Nations General Assembly earlier this fall. "How nice to see it!" The president insisted.

Unfortunately, Trump's reaction is predictable after the young Swedish activist was named as the person of the year from Time magazine ... above him. Trump is a bully. And he has proven time and again that he has no suspicion of bullying anyone. Let's not forget that he made fun of Carly Fiorina's appearance when he was competing with her for the Republican nomination during the 2016 election campaign. And in that same campaign, the now president mocked a New York Times journalist grossly imitating his disability physical. So, let the president of the United States tell a 16-year-old girl with Asperger's syndrome - a condition that is mainly characterized by difficulty in social interactions - that some friends make and, basically, "relax", adapt very good to that pattern of behavior.

Thunberg responded by changing her Twitter biography to make fun of the president's words and referred to herself as: “A teenager working on her anger management problem. He is currently relaxing and watching a good old-fashioned movie with a friend. ” Thunberg has been open about his neurological difference, recognizing the struggles he has had and ensuring that he is a "superpower" when it comes to his activism.

Trump is Trump. He has never behaved differently than this. Now, it is not justify their behavior. But it is surprising that he acts like this.

What is really worrying - and that genuinely makes me angry - about all this is that we will not hear the rejection by Trump supporters (in elected and out of office) due to this absolutely frightening behavior.

Why? Because, at this moment in American political history, the party with which they identify exceeds, ahem, everything else, including common decency.

Because common decency would dictate that, as a society, we do not accept that an adult intimidates a 16-year-old girl on the internet. Because we know it's wrong. Because we are aware that if we had a daughter we would not want an adult to bully her. Much less an adult man. Much less one who is the president of the United States.

That is not a partisan position. It is moral. It is common sense. You do not believe me? Read these words from first lady Melania Trump:

“In today's global society, social networks are an inevitable part of our children's daily lives. They can be used in many positive ways, but they can also be destructive and harmful when used incorrectly. That's why 'Be Best' chooses to focus on the importance of teaching our next generation how to behave safely and positively in an online environment. ”

Agree! The dangers of online bullying for our children are real and continue to get worse. That is something we can and we must all agree on!

And yet, when the most powerful person in the country intimidates a 16-year-old girl with Asperger's syndrome, there is no reasonable expectation that everyone - republicans, Democrats and people who don't care about politics - strongly condemns this behavior.

So what the hell? Our common humanity should dictate that we not allow the president - or ANY adult - to bully a child, right? TRUE? TRUE.

That we have forgotten that memory of our common humanity is very worrying. And it may well be the lasting legacy of Trump's time as president.
