Basbug: Preserving Syria's unity and sovereignty is essential to Turkey's security and stability

The former Turkish chief of staff, Ilkar Basbug, stressed that preserving Syria's unity and sovereignty is essential for Turkey's security and stability.

Bashbug, in an interview with the Turkish newspaper Suzhou, called for the normalization of comprehensive relations with the Syrian state and its legitimate government, considering that this is the only way to address the crisis in Syria and its implications for Turkey.

Basbug stressed the need for Turkey to distance itself from interference in the affairs of other countries, especially the neighboring countries.

It is noteworthy that the Turkish regime, led by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has facilitated the crossing of tens of thousands of terrorists to Syrian lands over the past years and turned Turkey into a haven and base for launching terrorist organizations and cooperated with those organizations, most notably ISIS, to steal oil and Syrian antiquities and smuggle them abroad.
