The story of Jabis and Abidat is not surprising: the two are residents of Jabal Mukaber, a neighborhood that has been the culmination of the attacks and the perpetration of terror attacks in East Jerusalem since the second intifada. Still, it has a dimension of surprise, as the two explored the "possibility" of carrying out their mass attack on behalf of ISIS, and even established contact with the Islamic State organization.

Abidat tried to cross the border into Sinai to join ISIS forces fighting there. Jabis has spoken several times in recent years with his uncle, Muhammad Ziyad, who fought ISIS ranks in Iraq, and ISA investigators who confiscated his personal computer discovered dedicated folders on various military subjects such as "bomb making," "the military knife - the weapon of the Salafi warrior," Or: "The murder of kidnapping."

Fadi al-Canber, also from Jabal Mukaber, was also influenced by ISIS's Salafic-jihadist ideology, but with him the ISA was less successful. Al-Kanbar, Jabis and Abidat, ISIS operatives, are only a small part of the sequence of casualties and attacks created by the village of Jebel Mukaber, a sequence that is consistently reminiscent of only the sequence from the creator of the Kawasma clan, and perhaps the sequence of attacks and casualties that have come out of Kubar in recent years. Ahmed Jabis is also not the first of his family involved in terror. Another family member in the village, Muhammad Naif Jabis, was killed in 2014 by the tractor with Avraham Walles, Toldot Aharon, a devotee, at one of Jerusalem's construction sites. Naif, who was shot to death, was also a relative of Ala Abu Dahim, the killer from the center of the rabbi.

The Abu Jamal clan of Jabal Mukaber also has a history of terror: the shooting and stabbing attack carried out in the Mount Nof synagogue where five worshipers and a policeman were murdered (November 2014), carried out by two cousins: Rasan and Ui Abu Jamel of Jabal Mukaber. The two were relatives of Jamal Abu Jamal, who was sentenced to 22 years in prison, after trying to stab a police officer. The cousin of the terrorists, Alaa Abu Jamal, took pride in the murder in the Mount Nof synagogue in the action his cousins ​​performed. He stressed then (Ynet, October 13, 2015) that "it is an ordinary thing to expect from anyone who has the courage and sense of belonging to his people and to Islam." A year later, he became a killer himself when he killed Isaiah Krishevsky in a redemption neighborhood and was liquidated. It was only after his death that it became clear that he was, in fact, inspired by the Islamic State organization.

A year ago, another member of the Abu Jamel family of Jebel Mukaber, Abd al-Rahman, joined the terrorist circle as he entered the police station in the Armon Commissioner's neighborhood and stabbed four police officers there.

It is impossible not to mention two other harsh terrorist attacks by Jabel Mukaber that were thwarted: In the first (in 2015), Ahmed Sror, Ans Awisat, and Basel Abidat (of the clan against which one of her sons has now been indicted) arrived when they were disguised as ultra-Orthodox in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Beth Vagan , Enter with invitees through the main entrance and there to open fire indiscriminately and kill as many celebrants as possible.

The second attack, in 2014, is related to a particularly appalling terrorist attack that Aziz Awisat of Jebel Mukaber planned and even tried to execute. One of the areas that Abrahami recently researched is the social networking field in East Jerusalem. These things go well with similar things from veteran Jerusalem scholar Israel (Lulik) Kimchi, who two years ago (along with Ahmed Asmer) published a study of the Jabal Mukaber neighborhood under the Jerusalem Institute for Policy Studies. Kimchi especially remembers talking to a group of teachers who described the students and sometimes their parents as "Bedouin escaped from the desert," and complained about many violent incidents in the schools there. Mahmoud 'Awisat, a well-known figure in the village who was active in the local parents' committee, denies terrorism and violence, but does not negate the causal link, which he estimates is the many dimensions of neglect in the village, and the high number of perpetrators.
