The heavy rains that occurred in Lattakia governorate since last night led to bottlenecks in the drainage of water in a number of the city's districts and the entry of water to some low houses.

Maintenance and emergency workshops in the Sewerage Company, the Directorate of Services and Maintenance in the City Council, the Fire and Civil Defense Regiment worked immediately to address bottlenecks and open and wiring rain drainage channels in addition to the participation of mechanisms from other public bodies to address bottlenecks in the governorate's countryside, including water resources.

The director of the Sewerage Company, Engineer Rafeeq Nofal, indicated in a statement to SANA correspondent that the company's workshops were distributed to a number of the city's districts with full alert to the emergency crews to respond to the complaints of citizens and worked since the early hours of dawn to address the bottlenecks.

Nawfal pointed out that most of the bottlenecks occurred in the Gharraf neighborhood, where the water coming to the water drainage channel was greater than its absorptive capacity in addition to addressing other bottlenecks in a number of the city's neighborhoods in cooperation with the fire brigade and the maintenance department of the City Council and Civil Defense distributed on Al-Husseini Street and in front of the port and in the neighborhood Al-D'tour is in addition to the individual complaints from the owners of low houses on the street.

In the countryside of the governorate, the mechanisms of the Directorate of Water Resources and Technical Services are working to address other bottlenecks in the Jableh Plain, concentrated in the villages of the Municipality of Al-Barjan and Ras Al-Ain.

The director of water resources, engineer Nabil Hassan, indicated in a similar statement that the directorate is working to isolate the entrances and exits of ferries and river rivers, including the Musa waterway and the ranch in Damsharkhu and in the industrial area and in front of the gas plant where it was completed and restore the situation to what it was in addition to opening the entrances and exits of ferries in Ras Al-Ain, Al-Sakhabah, Abu Burghul Bridge, Ain Al-Dilab, Nahr Al-Sharasheer, Ruwaisa Al-Hijl, Sakiet Al-Sakhaba and Al-Barajan in cooperation with the Directorate of Technical Services and Agriculture and the Water Corporation in addition to the administrative units, pointing to the continuation of the Directorate in its work to address all bottlenecks.

For his part, Director of Technical Services Eng. Wael Al-Jurdi pointed out that the heavy rains caused a flood of water from the open canal in the village of Ras Al-Ain on both sides of the road.

The head of the municipality of Ras Al-Ain, engineer Zuhair Merhi confirmed, for his part, that all bottlenecks in the municipality’s area were addressed through the concerted efforts of all the concerned authorities, noting that no damages were recorded in the municipality’s scope.
