St. Garygios Parish of the Roman Catholics in the town of Bseir in the Daraa countryside lit the largest Christmas tree called “The Tree of a Homeland” in preparation for Christmas and New Year's Day.

Priest Munawar Al-Bakhitan, pastor of St. George’s Church in Basir, pointed out in a statement to the correspondent of Sana about the meanings of the birth of Jesus, peace be upon him, the Messenger of Love and Peace, stressing that the celebration of lighting a tree of a homeland is a message to all the world with the return of security and stability.

The owner of the initiative, Samer Al-Muhanna, drew a similar statement to the fact that the tree of a country when it was lit from Horan is evidence of the return of joy after an absence of years.

Farid Al-Ajouri, from the townspeople, explained that the tree means love and peace and sends a message of peace from Basir to all Syria, stressing that lighting the tree in the presence of all components of the Syrian people is evidence of the cohesion of the people and the army.

The tree, which was lit in the lobby of St. George’s Church, is 27 meters long, 11 meters wide and lit by a million lamps.
