Photos showing a CDU district politician as a folder on a neo-Nazi demo strain the state government of Saxony-Anhalt. The Greens are calling for a clear signal from the coalition partner.

The Greens in Saxony-Anhalt have asked their coalition partner to act in the case of CDU district politician Robert Möritz, who acted as a folder at a neo-Nazi demo.

"We see the party chairman Holger Stahlknecht and Prime Minister Haseloff in the obligation to position themselves as a clear bulwark against right-wing extremism," said the two regional party leaders Sebastian Striegel and Susan Sziborra-Seidlitz.

Möritz had admitted on Friday that he had worked as a folder on a neo-Nazi demo in 2011. Nevertheless, the CDU district board Anhalt-Bitterfeld, to which Möritz is an assessor, does not want to exclude him from the board or from the party.

On Thursday Möritz had declared that "at no time had he been a folder for a left-wing or right-wing extremist organization". As part of his work at a security company, he worked as a folder at various events.

According to the CDU announcement, Möritz said at the meeting that at the time of the demo he was not yet firm at the age of 19 and had accepted the order out of "misunderstood loyalty". According to the party's statement, Möritz apologized: "Yes, it was a mistake to accompany this demonstration as a folder." Also from the membership in the controversial Uniter association, no right-wing extremist outlook from Möritz could be derived, the party said.

The district politician had come under fire after appearing on social media in a photo with the Uniter coat of arms. Thereupon photos and videos appeared, which Möritz was supposed to show as a folder on the demo, among other things.

Robert Möritz (CDU) is lying to @dpa.

He tries his hand at the story that he was working purely as a folder on the Nazi parade. One may well ask the question why he wears the Nazi band "final stage" t-shirt during this activity.

From the point of view of the Green State Presidents, the interpretation as a youthful misconduct is unbelievable. The Greens rule in Saxony-Anhalt together with the CDU and SPD in a so-called Kenya coalition.
