The start of the carnival in front of the cathedral was attended by the Patriarch of Antioch and the rest of the East to the royal Melkite Catholics Youssef Al-Absi and the Deputy Patriarch General Archbishop Nicola Antibes and the general values ​​of the patriarchate Father George Jbeil and a number of priests in the cathedral in addition to a large popular presence accompanying the carnival.

The carnival included hand-made figures of Christmas symbols, “The Cave, Snowman and Santa Claus”, icons about Jesus and anecdotal portraits of Christmas, among others, as well as presenting psalms and Christmas songs.

Archimandrite Naim al-Gharbi, the parish priest in the cathedral, told SANA delegate that the purpose of the carnival is to create an atmosphere of joy in the hearts of children, to draw joy on people's faces, and to emphasize the return to normal life and the continuation of Christmas celebrations, valuing the sacrifices and victories of the Syrian Arab Army that brought joy and joy to the days of Eid .
