Attempts to disqualify the leader of the third largest party have taken thousands to the capital's streets in Bankock, as part of the largest demonstration since the prime minister's rise to power in 2014. The protest leader, who has been able to sweep young people through social networks, threatened that "this is just the beginning"

Thousands of Thai government opponents have been protesting since yesterday (Friday) in Bankock, following attempts to disqualify opposition party leader "Forward to the Future", 41-year-old billionaire Thanatorn Zhuangrongrangkit. The rally, which has rekindled memories of the protests that have plagued the capital over the past two decades, has been the biggest since Thai Prime Minister Chen Uche's reign came to power in 2014, promising to end the unrest.

"This is just the beginning," Thanathorn assured the cheering crowd, which was scattered on the steps and steps of the MBK mall, in the heart of Bankock's shopping and business district. He has become one of the prominent opponents of his 65-year-old government since the March elections, which the opposition says have been disrupted for the benefit of the military.

The Thai electoral commission has asked the constitutional court to dismantle Thanathorn's party, alleging that it violated the laws applicable to political parties by obtaining multi-million dollar loans. Last month, the Constitutional Court ordered Methanethorn to revoke his membership of parliament due to his holding of shares in a telecommunications company on the day he registered as an election candidate.

New generation

Participants included graduates of the "Red T-shirts" protest, supporters of ousted populist leader Thaksin Shinwatra, who clashed with supporters of the palace and the military - the conservatives known as the "Yellow T-shirts."

However, some of the anti-government protesters were younger, and many said it was the first protest they took part in. "It's about time," said 30-year-old office worker Fenipa Tiakuma. "They did everything to prevent democracy from flourishing."

Thanathorn has been using social networks to sweep the young Thais. The Thai army expressed its sympathy for the movement and blamed it for trying to rebel against the monarchy and the armed forces.

"Today is a show of strength so that many others will join us in the future," Tanathorn said in a demonstration, addressing the prime minister: "We are here today only as a test experiment. Fertility, still do not be afraid. The real thing will come next month."

A party spokesman said more than 10,000 people participated in the protest, but authorities did not give their official assessment. Many waved their three fingers in the air - the gesture identified with opponents of the military junta, inspired by the movie The Hunger Games. Opponents of the government are also planning a "run against the dictatorship" on January 12.

Tanthorne signed an agreement with six opposition parties to promote changes to the constitution. These parties expressed their support for the protest. One of the parties is Pao Thai, affiliated with Thaksin, who was ousted from power in 2006 and has never returned to his country. His sister herself was ousted from the premiership by fertility.

The Pau Thai Party constitutes a majority of the lower 500-seat parliament, but has adopted a more moderate approach to opposition to the government than the Kadima for the Future party, which came in third place in the election. Falang Percha, founded by the junta members who support the country’s military, came in second. Fruits told reporters last Friday that it was inappropriate to organize a protest toward the end of the year.
