British Prime Minister Boris Johnson visited the former stronghold of his rival party in Northern England on Saturday, whose residents traditionally voted for Labor - until the last election. During his visit, Johnson promised to return to the residents the confidence they gave him when they helped him win a large majority of seats in parliament.

Johnson led the Conservative party to its biggest achievement since the victory of former prime minister Margaret Thatcher in 1987. In Thursday's election, he received 365 seats in parliament giving him a total 80-seat majority. The Labor party, led by Jeremy Corbyn, won only 203 seats.

The election marked the disintegration of the "Red Wall" - residents of the working-class areas identified in northern and central England who were previously considered Labor voters. Most of them supported the EU departure in the 2016 referendum. Johnson, who is considered the "face" of EU departure supporters, led the latest election campaign under the slogan "End with the Barracks".

"I know people have broken generations of voting patterns to vote for us," Johnson told his supporters in Sedgefield. This is a symbolically important seat, as it was previously occupied by former Prime Minister Tony Blair, Labor's most successful leader.

"I want people in the northeastern state to know that we are in the Conservative Party, and I, as you, will reward you for the trust we have been given," Johnson added. Reiterating his election slogan, he said the first thing to do to fulfill that promise would be to "finish the barracks."

Barracks is considered to be the most partisan issue in the election, and the British Prime Minister's promise to exclude the EU from January 31, 2020 has won the trust of many former Labor voters. "What an incredible thing you did, you changed your political landscape, changed the conservative party for the better and changed the future of our country for the better," he told his supporters.

Johnson, who called for holding lightning elections to break years of impasse in parliament around the Barracks, also promised to expand investment in health, education and police. Earlier, he addressed new Conservative MPs and reiterated Blair's remarks as he took office: "When we get to Westminster and start our job, remember that we are not masters, we are serving now, and our job is to serve the state and meet our priorities. Identical. "

Corbin took over Labor after the blow she received in the 2015 election, taking her sharply left, compared to her moderate policy under the three governments Blair stood for. After the party sustained its heaviest loss since 1935, its leader promised not to remain in office.

Opponents believe Corbyn, who has been accused of anti-Semitism and has also alienated Jewish voters, is responsible for the party's collapse because of its ambivalent stance on the Barracks. The districts where the old party loyalty has changed rejected his vague stance on the Barracks and were unimpressed with his promises to nationalize the industries, choosing Johnson - a graduate of the prestigious Eaton School perceived by his rivals as unable to win the working class votes.
