Shocking in the United States: Two minors, ages 13 and 14, were arrested on suspicion of robbing and stabbing to death Tessa Majors, 18, last Wednesday at Morningside Park, Manhattan. It is suspected that a third minor incident has not yet been reported.

Majors' body, a student at New York's Barnard College, was discovered by a school security guard at Morningside Park, with bumping and stabbing marks on her face, neck and arm. She was evacuated to Mount Sinai Hospital, where her death was determined.

According to various reports, police investigating the crime scene found a trail of blood, indicating that Majors was trying to make her way back down the park steps toward a nearby road. Apparently, she tried to fight the attackers when they tried to rob her. While the security guard's position was close to the crime scene, the US media reported that the security guard was on patrol at the time of the stabbing.

One of the suspects in the attack, 13-year-old Zayar Davis, who was arrested first, admitted he arrived at the park on Wednesday along with two other boys for robbing people. He and his two friends reportedly emerged from behind Majors, strangled her and emptied her pockets - and then one of them stabbed her.

The other 14-year-old detainee was released for lack of evidence but is still defined as a suspect in the case.

"We lost a young, talented and much loved daughter," said the Majors' family. "Tess lit up this world and our hearts will never be the same."
