Today, the Russian Ministry of Defense warned European countries against deploying new American missiles on their soil, noting that countries that will agree to this matter may face a response in the event of a military confrontation.
In an interview with the Ministry’s Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper, Commander of the Strategic Missile Forces, Sergei Karakayev, the first team said, “Countries that agree to embrace American weapons will face the greatest risk of a response and we will take into account when planning national security missions the impact of Washington’s withdrawal from the medium and short-range missile disarmament treaty. The subsequent proliferation of US medium-range missiles in Europe and the associated risks and threats. ”
Despite possible European measures, Karakayev ruled out any changes in the mission of the Russian strategic missile forces to ensure nuclear deterrence, pointing to US plans to conduct tests for two new missiles with a range of 1,000 km and 3,000 km until the end of this year.
Russian President Vladimir Putin recently announced that Washington's exit from the short-and medium-range missile treaty could lead to an unrestrained arms race that would inevitably destabilize the entire global security architecture, calling on Washington to start a serious and substantive dialogue with Moscow.
