Christmas peace in Saxony-Anhalt: reconciliation is always good

2019-12-16T16:47:05.462Z

Who wasn't a little neo-Nazi in his youth? That's why you don't always have to do such a theater right away. Fortunately, the CDU in Saxony-Anhalt cannot be provoked.

column

It is a scandal. The government can't go on like this, that's clear. Democrats cannot work with a party that tolerates this in their own ranks. With all tolerance towards the coalition partner: at some point a limit is reached and exceeded, then it does not go on.

We are about to come to this unprecedented scandal, which has the potential to blow up the Kenya coalition of CDU, SPD and Greens that has existed since 2016. But first of all: The harmless story of the political errors of a young man from Anhalt-Bitterfeld.

Gifts for the homeless

It was a few years ago that Robert Möritz helped as a folder during a neo-Nazi march in Halle, out of loyalty that was certainly misunderstood, grim-eyed and bald. He allegedly accidentally promoted right-wing rock on social media. And then another slip: He showed himself in a photo with a tattoo, which neo-Nazis like to use as a replacement symbol for the forbidden swastika, the so-called Black Sun, consisting of several swastikas placed on top of each other.

It was a long time ago. Möritz has certainly changed since then.

For example, he joined the non-profit association "Uniter", an association of former and active members of security forces who have come together to "maintain contact and further education". Rather unofficially, "Uniter" people maintain a network that is preparing for an upcoming civil war and is building weapons stores and enemy lists with leftists that should be interned and possibly liquidated when the time is right. But Möritz couldn't have known anything about that, otherwise he wouldn't have presented himself so proudly with the martial "Uniter" emblem on the lapel on his Twitter profile picture.

No, good work is done at "Uniter", such as giving gifts to the homeless on St. Nicholas Day. And no, the Office for the Protection of the Constitution does not observe "Uniter", it is not necessary at all, as there was even a member of the Office for the Protection of the Office from Baden-Württemberg on the board. Well, you want to take a closer look at these connections in the extreme right-wing scene, but so far: no need to worry.

Maybe a little stupid, but harmless

In addition, Robert Möritz is now even really democratic, because as an active CDU member and official in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district association, he is also involved in the "Conservative Circle", a right-wing CDU sub-group in Saxony-Anhalt that does not rule out cooperation with the AfD wants and would like to reconcile the "national" with the "social". Reconciliation is always a good thing.

Unfortunately, peace is disturbed, suddenly all the left pulls everything to light: the neo-Nazi past, the tattoo and the "Uniter" membership. Möritz can of course explain everything. He was young and confused at the time, but now it is completely different: "I distance myself from extremist currents of all stripes here and now." Anyway, he had this SS sun gear made only out of "interest in Celtic mythology". He didn't know what it meant. This is undoubtedly true, some people have unsuspecting Chinese menus stuck on their backs. Maybe a little stupid, but harmless.

Then Möritz quickly leaves the "Uniter" club. He has already deleted his right posts and pictures from the social networks. Who knows, maybe at some point he will even have the Nazi tattoo accidentally got on his body if he finds time, there is so much to do before Christmas. But it doesn't have to be. In any case, his district association votes unanimously that Möritz may continue, the CDU Saxony-Anhalt is also satisfied with the purged member. A nice, forgiving story.

An unprecedented cheek

And finally a scandal. Here it comes: The Greens of Saxony-Anhalt, coalition partners of the Union, issue a press release: "We cannot and do not want to imagine that a Christian Democratic Union at state and federal level now accepts members of KV executive boards who are at right-wing extremists Participated in demonstrations as a folder, promoted Uniter, and in the past flaunted a unique SS tattoo and still wear it today. " As the headline of this outrageous interference in the interests of the Union, the Greens come up with an unprecedented cheek: "How many swastikas have space in the CDU?"

Sven Schulze, the CDU general secretary of Saxony-Anhalt, is rightly foaming. Because the Greens have declared all CDU members to be neo-Nazis very clearly and clearly for everyone. It is a brazen insolence that cannot remain without consequences: "Without an excuse, it pops." The CDU leader Holger Stahlknecht also sees "acting the Greens" as a threat to government cooperation. Stahlknecht is still angry anyway because he was not allowed to make the highly esteemed Rainer Wendt, the toughest police union since the invention of tough police unions, State Secretary.

Nobody should further annoy him. Nobody is a Nazi and therefore nobody can be in the CDU, and now, before more can be said about right-wing civil war fantasies, that would only disturb the reconciliation of the national and the social.

In distant Berlin, the CDU party leader Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer is doing the right thing and spreading Christmas music tips via Twitter. The feast of love, it can come.
