Sudan's transitional government on Monday announced that it will close the offices of Hamas Hezbollah terrorist in the country. A Sudanese source said that "the government will close Hamas and Hezbollah's offices and any other Islamic terrorist group. Sudan has nothing to do with these terrorists, Sudan's interests are above all."
The Sudanese source added: "Organizations have been hiding their presence in the country in recent years, but we will no longer tolerate their presence in the future."

According to a report on the MIDDLE EAST EYE website, the removal of Hamas and Hezbollah from the state is intended to persuade the US administration to remove Sudan from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
The United States defined Sudan as a country that sponsors terrorism in 1993, after hosting Al Qaeda Osama bin Laden.

Relations between the countries have improved since the fall of former President Omar al-Bashir's dictatorial regime last April, after about 30 years in power. Earlier this month, the United States and Sudan agreed to replace ambassadors after a period of more than two decades.
