Leonid Slutsky, chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian State Duma, affirmed that Idlib could not be allowed to remain a hotbed of terrorists.
In an interview with a SANA correspondent in Moscow, he pointed out that the situation in the de-escalation zone in Idlib is still complicated and that the terrorists present in this region whose liberation is considered a Russian priority in Syria are inevitable.
He said that the Syrian land cannot be a hotbed for terrorists, adding: "We and the Syrian colleagues are still ahead of us in great work, especially in Idlib, so the process is moving, albeit slowly, towards its inevitable positive ends."
In a similar interview, Russian State Duma member Alexander Fukin indicated that the US and Turkish presence in Syria is illegal, stressing that "these issues will be resolved soon and that peace will definitely prevail in Syrian territory."
He said: "We hope that the Idlib case will definitely find a solution at the beginning of next year, as it is a very important humanitarian security issue."
