A supporter of the terrorist militia "Islamic State" (IS) has been sentenced by the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Hamburg to five years and nine months in prison for supporting a terrorist organization. "There was no serious departure of the accused from IS," the presiding judge explained her verdict.
It had been proven that the 41-year-old from Bremen had been involved in concrete attack plans and had supported the planned smuggling of IS fighters to Germany.
The court's decision went beyond the charge of the indictment, which had required five and a half years in prison. The defense had pleaded for acquittal.
