The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority announced today that the Authority adopted the recommendations of M + Project Management Contractor Golden Gate Construction Co., Ltd. and contract manager Atkins Consultants Ltd. to immediately terminate the small subcontracting contract with Lee Tak Building Services Limited.

The authority criticized that Li De repeatedly violated the subcontract and was unable to fulfill the terms of the contract. In particular, he failed to pay his employees as scheduled and the situation was serious. The Authority stated that it has been trying to work with Li De to resolve the problem in the past three months. The subcontractor failed to take corresponding measures. The Authority had to terminate the contract with Li De immediately.

The Authority stated that it was noted that workers with Li Tak had recently contacted the Labour Department regarding alleged wage arrears. The Authority and its wholly-owned subsidiary Blue Poles Limited will maintain close liaison with the Labour Department to ensure that workers will receive their due wages in accordance with relevant labour legislation.
