The trailer shows Cruise's iconic character from the hit 1986 film, Lieutenant Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, introducing himself to a younger generation of pilots.

A narrator says: “His exploits are legendary. What he has to teach you can mean the difference between life and death. ”

Fans reacted immediately with great emotion.

“I fell in love with @TomCruise for the first time in Top Gun. It is still, without a doubt, one of my favorite movies. Listening to the theme song slowly through the advance led me back to the first time I saw it. I'm ready for this. "
