Unless there are last-minute surprises, the U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote tomorrow (Wednesday), and likely to approve impeachment clauses against President Trump. If the charges are indeed approved by a vote, then Trump will become the third president of U.S. history to file a deposition case.

However, it is important to note that the likelihood of Trump being ousted is nil, since Republicans hold a solid majority in the Senate, and in order to oust a president, at least two-thirds of senators are needed. One way or another, today the House Committee of Procedures met to determine the parameters for the impeachment hearing in the plenum, a hearing that is scheduled to take place today.

The majority of the charges are almost guaranteed. Democrats hold a significant majority in the House of Representatives, and everyone seems to have already started preparing for the Senate proceeding. Senate Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnol yesterday rejected Democrats' request for a Senate trial four past and present senior officials from Trump, led by White House Chief of Staff Mick Albany and former National Security Advisor John Bolton.

In a Senate speech, McConnell said he did not intend to allow an attempt to "fish out" damaging details against the president. "It's a completely wrong concept," McConnell declared. "The Senate is supposed to be a judge and a jury, to hear a trial, not a replay of the investigation."

In contrast, Senate Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer insisted that a trial without witnesses would be a "scam" and argued that Republicans would prefer to whitewash Trump's crimes. The president himself has so far refused to cooperate with the impeachment investigation, and has instructed senior government officials in the slave and the present - including the witnesses that the Democrats are trying to time - to neither testify nor pass documents to investigators.
