(CNN) - Donald Trump faces a process for a political trial, a procedure that leads to a trial to determine whether a public official is guilty of abuse of power or other crimes. An effective conviction in that process leads to dismissal.

These are other presidents around the world who in recent years have faced similar processes and have ended up dismissed.

Brazil - Dilma Rousseff

In the midst of a severe recession, Rousseff was accused of hiding a budget deficit to ensure his re-election. The problem was intensified by allegations of widespread corruption within the Brazilian government, although Rousseff was not linked to bribery or other schemes.

January 1, 2011 - Rousseff is the first female president of Brazil.

April 17, 2016 - A total of 367 lawmakers in the lower house of Parliament vote to accuse Rousseff.

May 12, 2016 - The Senate votes 55-22 to begin a trial trial. Rousseff says he is the victim of a "great injustice."

August 25 to 31, 2016 - The political trial takes place in the Senate. Rousseff is convicted and dismissed by a vote of 61-20.

Guatemala - Otto Pérez Molina

A United Nations investigation into the administration of Otto Pérez Molina discovered evidence that the president and his assistants accepted bribes in exchange for tax exemptions for companies and individuals seeking to import goods into Guatemala.

January 14, 2012 - Pérez Molina takes an oath as president.

August 25, 2015 - The Supreme Court of Guatemala approves a motion by the country's attorney general to accuse Pérez Molina.

September 2, 2015 - The attorney general issues an arrest warrant against Pérez Molina.

September 3, 2015 - Pérez Molina leaves office as president and placed in police custody.

June 17, 2016 - In another case, Pérez Molina is accused of embezzlement and money laundering.

South Korea- Park Geun-hye

Park Geun-hye, dismissed president of South Korea.

Park Geun-hye's legal problems arose from her close relationship with Choi Soon-sil, a religious leader and spiritual mentor who supposedly encouraged her to pressure companies to make large donations to church-affiliated foundations. Park is the first president of South Korea to be accused.

Three weeks after she was removed from office, Park was arrested and charged with multiple crimes.

February 25, 2013 - Park is the first female president of South Korea.

December 9, 2016 - The National Assembly of South Korea votes to dismiss Park.

March 10, 2017 - Park is dismissed from office. The decision leads to demonstrations, as Park supporters protest his dismissal while opposition groups applaud the opinion of the court. The conviction strips the immunity granted to presidents in South Korea, clearing the way for criminal charges.

March 31, 2017 - Park is arrested and charged with abuse of power, accepting bribes and leaking confidential information.

May 23, 2017 - His trial begins in the Seoul Central District Court.

April 6, 2018 - Park is sentenced to 24 years in prison after being found guilty of 16 of the 18 charges she faced, related to a case of mass traffic in influences that removed her from office last year. In addition to the prison sentence, he also receives a fine of US $ 17 million.
