The prosecutor's office in Genoa investigates for sexual assault after a complaint from the Network The abuse on the pastor of a church in the Albaro neighborhood accused of having abused minors. In the coming days the magistrates could ask for the deeds to the Genoese Diocese, which had already investigated the parish priest in 1998, in light of Pope Francis' decision to abolish the "pontifical secret" on the cases of sexual abuse committed by clerics on minors.
The priest had been transferred to Albaro and in the summer he had also been removed from that parish without any warning. The abuse report refers to a letter that said the priest had been expelled for alleged child abuse. "We have opened an investigation - confirms the chief prosecutor of Genoa Francesco Cozzi - and in all probability will take advantage of the abolition of the pontifical secret to acquire the documents of the previous inquiry to shed light on the matter".
