Chanukah calls us spitefuls and gnomes, but above all fried food, so the only miracle that can come out of this holiday is not to gain weight. Every year, in the weeks leading up to Chanukah, we encounter new types of holiday foods, confectioners who reinvent donuts, fried or baked with new flavors, banana donuts, ice cream filling and more.

The entry of shipments into the dessert world seems to have changed the industry, bringing new entrants into the field and making quite a few places more accessible for those living far away, stuck in the office, suffering in queues or, mercifully, just lazing out of the house.

However, the question remains how effective the deliveries are when it comes to handmade and meticulous product. Does it pay to order a donut box, which is likely to be special and decorated when there is a chance that the appearance, followed by the taste, will be damaged by any shock during the delivery that the courier is riding a bicycle or motorcycle?

Walt and Nathan Bite, the food delivery apps that dominate the downtown area, and in Tel Aviv in particular, are a significant part of the dessert delivery sub-scene, a trend that has become extremely popular in the past year and introduced new entrants to the market, small and large. What started as cookie deliveries and upgraded to ice cream and cannabis, breaks the current Chanukah record with deliveries of one of the most delicate and "fragile" desserts there are - donuts.

"We give utmost importance to the shape and level of delivery and quality of food that ultimately reaches the customer's home," says Nurit Shaked, co-CEO of "Give Bite", "Customers can order anything they want at any time of the day and be sure they will receive delivery Delicious and sweet. "

Walt also offers shipments of the traditional Hanukkah dish, and quite a few of the most prominent brands in the country. Through the app you can order most of the types of donuts from Roldin from Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan and Ramat Hasharon. In addition, the "SpongeBob" donuts collection from the "Showroom" dessert brand is also available on the app, along with "The Fresh Procurement", the pastry donor Lior Coca, who recently joined the chain, from the long queue in Rothschild to the doorstep.

The taste was not hurt

To check the nature of the deliveries and to what extent, if any, the desserts may be damaged by the delivery, we examined some of the bakeries that send the donuts to the house. To our surprise, we discovered that the donuts came adorned with delicate and quite high toppings, i.e. not standard donuts that included only filling, but a hand-made dessert. However, the shipments maintained high quality and standards, the delivery did not arrive "messy", the donuts were stable without fault and of course, most important, the long stay in the cardboard box did not impair the taste.

While the big chains and restaurants are taking over the field of deliveries, the confectioners, as well as the independent confectioners, are trying to do everything possible to avoid being left behind, no matter what the price, in terms of value. "When it comes to complex delivery, I often make it myself to ensure a safe and secure trip to the cake, donut or dessert box," says Sharon Ofri-Celery, a 23-year-old resident of Tel Aviv, who has run a home-based business for the past five years called Sweet Cake. "I even have a sign on the car 'Careful, cake in the car'."

Celery ore is not the only confectionery and business owner that maintains the utmost caution. "There are quite a few desserts that we wanted to produce but gave up, because there is a chance that the product will be destroyed on its way to the customer," says Einav Shamir, founder of the boutique dessert brand Joy, "There are problems with delicate production such as whipped cream or fillers that are sensitive to shaking, but efficient wrapping and packaging can be overcome. For a large part of the difficulties.

"We work with a private company and do not do the shipments ourselves, but our packages do not go hand in hand. The courier who takes the package is the one who delivers to the customer. We treat the boxes in silk gloves. In our case, we charge the customer the delivery fee that the messenger charges from us. Our mission is to make our confectionery boxes accessible.

"The most significant part of the process, besides the tasting, is the chassis opening experience," concludes Shamir, "from the moment the customer receives the chassis, a whole opening ceremony begins. The majority do not expect to receive sensitive desserts in a gift chassis, and then the responses accordingly, happy and excited. Want to get a delicious gift in the middle of the day? "

For the solicas of solica

Among all the exaggerated donuts, cronuts and donuts, we almost forgot another traditional holiday dish - the hearty. That "warm and sweet heart" from the folk holiday song, has now also become "a warm, sweet heart and in-home delivery." You've heard it right, now you can eat pancakes with the click of an app instead of grating potatoes in your home kitchen for hours.

Unlike a lot of places that allow donuts to be delivered, in the case of the fried hearties, these are individual places, one of which is the "Solica" deli founded by one of the country's most famous chefs, Avi Biton.

"It took me two months to come up with a formula for hearties that won't dry out and remain delicious even after they cool down," he says. "I threw a lot on the way until I reached the final formula I'm happy with. Hot pies are always delicious, but most people buy at noon and don't always eat them at the same time. Our hearts are not soaked in oil, and even the potato and gluten-free sweet potato. "

In the deli delivery, which can be ordered through the deli website, we can get all six types of concrete delicacies, which are ready on the spot every day: Alongside the so-called regular potato, we also find vegetable broth, sweet potato, leek and even chicken and salmon. Also, in the case of the sweetness, there was concern that the combination of delivery with hot and fried food would impair the taste of the sweetness. So in this case, too, we took on the task and tasted the sweetness, even when they arrived warm, even after they cooled and after another warm-up. In all three cases the result remains the same, and most of all, delicious. However, it was possible to soak up the heartfelt oil a little more, but still, this is Chanukah, not that we expected something not oil.
