President Bashar al-Assad received today a delegation of participants in the central celebration of the Arab Writers Union on the occasion of its fiftieth anniversary.
The meeting dealt with the intellectual and cultural reality experienced by Syria, and the challenges it faces in light of the cultural war, which constitutes one of the most dangerous levels and forms of terrorist war against it.
President al-Assad pointed out the importance of the intellectual's role in the scientific and systematic evaluation and analysis of the system of values, concepts, customs and traditions prevalent in society, and sorting out what is useful for its protection, preservation, and dedication, and what is bad for lighting and changing it through conscious interaction with the culture of modernity and technical development in the world.
President al-Assad stressed the importance of the presence of intellectuals on the front of concepts and terms that are intended to be devoted from abroad in order to serve projects that are not in the interest of the country, and the need to find critical speech and creative cultural and dialogue mechanisms capable of facing the concept war, and the state of tension and attraction that take place and is intended to devote a general awareness of division and disharmony. Struggle and dissociation from oneself and society are an alternative to diversity and cultural richness in Syria.
President al-Assad stressed that the Arabic language should give all attention as the most important carrier of thought and culture committed to the issues of its homeland and society, and the basis of the universal Arab identity in its comprehensive cultural meaning and the expression of diversity and wealth in society.
President al-Assad considered that investing in cultural projects is the most profitable investment because he builds the fortified and armed person with knowledge, fortifies him, and prepares him to be able to develop himself, his community and his homeland.
For their part, the Arab and Syrian intellectuals participating in the central celebration of the Arab Writers Union who attended the meeting stressed their keenness that their speech and voice be at the level of challenges and sacrifices made in Syria, stressing the need to launch cultural mechanisms capable of influencing and interacting with the spirit of the times, to transfer the free word, and culture Committed to reviving it generation after generation.
