The battle of Tel Fakhar was engraved in consciousness as one of the unique and bloody heroic battles of the Six Day War. Golani Brigade Aided by Armored Force stormed the fortified Syrian post in the Golan Heights and the price was high: 34 soldiers were killed and 113 wounded.

Over the years, a memorial site was erected on the site, and a few months ago, the sign was replaced with names that fell on a new sign. But travelers arriving on the scene in recent days were shocked to find the old commemorative plaque broken and thrown at the site entrance.

"My wife and I were at a doctors' conference in Kfar Blum last weekend, and in the morning we went on a short trip to the Golan Heights," said Professor Kobi Susana. "At the site, we found the monument broken and the names of the spaces reversed. Even if they changed a sign, why did they leave the old sign up The state flag was also torn and the Golani flag was worn.

"When we hear about an attack on a Jewish cemetery abroad, we are all shocked. And this is where it happens here in Israel, on the site with Athos, people who received heroic decoration, exemplary decoration, in memory of IDF soldiers - and as if nothing. It just hurts to see it. It's like seeing a broken tomb in a cemetery. "

A few dozen miles south of there, at the memorial site in memory of the girls murdered by a Jordanian soldier in Naharayim, Orna Shimoni was shocked to find again that some planters had been stolen and some had been broken. Shimoni was an eyewitness to the massacre that took place in 1997, in which seven girls from seventh to eighth grade arrived from Beit Shemesh on an annual trip. After that, she set up the memorial site "Harvested Girls' Hill," and since then she has been settling in every morning to maintain it. Yesterday, she said: "During the night, people with a vehicle entered the photo complex, took some of the planters and some of them broke. The stealing of the planters started a few years after the massacre, and since then it occurs about once every two months. It just breaks my heart."

The Defense Ministry said: "The Tel Fahar commemorative site is the responsibility of the Golan Regional Council. However, for the past two years, the Ministry of Defense has carried out renovations on the site. Currently, the second phase is being carried out in three stages of updating the memorial panels and signage on the site, Golan Regional. The torn flags will be replaced in the coming days and the rest of the memorial stones will be repaired.

Golan Regional Council said: "The council is responsible, as far as possible, for cleaning the site. The Golani association and the Defense Ministry's commemorative wing are responsible for flags and signs. A few months ago, the association exchanged a commemorative sign, during which a ceremony was held where flags were also hung on the site. But take immediate action to lower the torn flags and place the old sign in a proper place. "
