State Central Television reported that President Xi Jinping met with the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chief Executive Lin Zhengyue and some officials at the Macau East Asian Games Stadium. According to the Xinhua News Agency, Xi Jinping reiterated that the central government fully affirmed the courage and responsibility of Lin Zhengyue during the extraordinary period, and the central government fully supported Lin Zhengyue's vision for the next step when he went to Beijing to report on his job.
Sources pointed out that the "plan of the SAR government's next work" mentioned by Lin Zheng to Xi Jinping did not include Article 23 of the Basic Law. The outside world is concerned about whether Lin Zheng is deploying a "change of cabinet" and removing some officials.

Xi Jinping said that the central government fully affirmed the courage and responsibility of Lin Zhengyue during the extraordinary period. When Lin Zhengyue came to Beijing to report on her job, she put forward the vision of the SAR government's next work, and the central government fully supported it. It is hoped that the various departments of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will continue to perform their duties under the leadership of the Chief Executive, cooperate closely and form a joint force to jointly handle the affairs of Hong Kong.
Lin Zhengyue thanked Xi Jinping for the interview, and said that she would definitely lead the SAR government to continue to do a good job in stopping the violence and restoring the social order in Hong Kong as soon as possible.

According to footage from the Government Information Service, Xi Jinping shook hands with Lin Zheng and asked when she arrived in Macau. Lin Zheng replied, "A little over an hour ago, now I came from the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge." Xi Jinping then asked, "How long does it take?" Lin Zheng responded, "an hour and a half."
Lin Zheng then introduced the members of the Hong Kong Government delegation to Xi Jinping, in that order: Financial Secretary Chen Maobo, Secretary of Justice Zheng Ruoji, Director of Commerce and Economic Development Qiu Tenghua, Director of Security Bureau Li Jiachao, Director of Food and Health Chen Zhaoshi, Nie Dequan, director of the Bureau of System and Mainland Affairs, and Chen Guoji, director of the Chief Executive's Office.
Lin Zheng said that he was very grateful to President Xi for taking the time to meet her team during his busy schedule.
