The anti-revision storm continued for half a year, and there were multiple demonstrations and even clashes between the police and the people. The media reported on the scene, but sometimes reporters became targets of attacks.

The Foreign Journalists Association President Jodi Schneider wrote in the Los Angeles Times, stating that a large number of clips in recent months saw reporters becoming targets of attack, and said that freedom of the press in Hong Kong was increasingly threatened.

Journalists are under attack when they are not respected

Jodi Schneider said public trust in the government, police and public institutions has broken and may not be repairable, and journalists often work under great pressure and difficult conditions to report recent rapid developments. However, journalists were not respected during their work and were attacked at the news site.

For example, Veby Mega Indah, a Indonesian-language media reporter, was blinded by a rubber bullet while reporting. Photojournalist May James was asked to remove gas masks at the demonstration site. The driver of now TV was suspected of being hit by a cloth bag in the back of his head and complained of being beaten by a truncheon in a police station. He had at least 9 visible injuries on his body, including a jaw fracture.

There are still many tear gas shots in the reflective clothing

Jodi Schneider pointed out that many tear gas bombs were fired directly at or near reporters. Police also deliberately used flashlights to prevent reporters from filming.

She said that the reporter had put on a helmet with the words "Media", a reflective jacket and showed the police to the police, but the attack on the reporter still occurred. Many of these incidents have film records that clearly show that journalists, including student reporters, have been targeted. If only by chance, these examples have appeared too many.

Meeting with police representatives asking not to shine bright light on reporters

According to Jodi Schneider, it appears that the police did not want to be seen or recorded by their actions, but instead intentionally blocked the report.

The Foreign Journalists Association also met with police representatives to discuss ways to improve the relationship between the media and the police. The meeting suggested that police officers should be identified and asked that the police avoid direct exposure to news personnel on the scene with strong light.

Jodi Schneider quotes United Nations sources stating that the public has the right to observe and review police operations, and that journalists are public witnesses. The police have a responsibility to maintain public order, but they also need to be subject to public scrutiny. It should be expected to be filmed by the media and should not interfere with reporting. She emphasized that the security forces did not have the legal power to restrict freedom of the press.
