For the first time in the history of the Air Force, a young pilot whose family is from Ivory Coast, West Africa, is finishing her pilot course.

Lieutenant T. finishes the flight course as an air crew member in the transport system. Her father came to Israel from the Ivory Coast some 20 years ago as an academic, and a Jewish-French mother who immigrated to Israel. Growing up as a religious girl in Jerusalem, Th was prominent in her social connections. Th is the only finisher in 179th pilot course.
This Wednesday, the 179th Flight Course will be held at the Hatzeri Air Force Base, attended by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Naftali Bennett, the Chief of Staff, Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi and the commander of the Air Force, Gen. Amikam Norkin. The ceremony will take place at the '70 year mark for flight school ', where flight wings will be awarded to graduates of the 179th flight class.
The flight course will be completed this year by 40 trainees, who will stand on the parade floor in the long-awaited wings reception. The graduates underwent a complex course spanning three years, during which they were trained to be a high-quality, professional force to lead the Corps. Over the course of three years, the graduates specialized in the various aircraft, completed a college degree and were even qualified to be sharp warriors.
The Flight School was established after the War of Independence at the end of 1949 and underwent a number of changes up to its current configuration at the premises. In its 70 years of existence, the flight school commanded 35 commanders who were key figures in the Israeli Air Force.
