As part of a plea bargain, therapist Zipora David admitted an assault offense, but now the toddler's parents are expected to announce they oppose the deal • No punishment agreement has been reached yet
In the Rehovot Magistrate's Court, the hearing in the indictment against Zipporah David, a 65-year-old resident of a 65-year-old who is accused of abusing a toddler she handled at his parents' home in Ness Ziona, continued Thursday. During the hearing, David pleaded guilty to assault with a plea bargain, but now the toddler's parents are expected to notify the court that they oppose the deal. The prosecutor's office is going to claim a penalty for which there is no agreement in the deal.
Warning: Hard to watch
David has previously told the court she is ready to admit an assault offense as part of a plea deal and expressed remorse for her actions. Defense attorney Yaron Forer offered a mediation framework to sign the plea bargain and the court granted the parties an extension to execute the deal.
Recall that the therapist was charged with minor or helpless abuse. According to the indictment filed six months ago, she slapped the baby, shouted at him repeatedly, flung him on a couch and rug, clutched a towel in front of him as she strangled him, left him alone at home and even told him to kill him. The deeds were documented with a hidden camera and turned over to police upon the complaint.
