Justice Minister Amir Ohana said on Saturday that Attorney Orly Ben-Ari Ginzberg, his candidate for acting attorney, had been exerted on pressure that led to her decision to relinquish the position. "Obviously, there were heavy pressures and they eventually matured into Orly's decision, Of a gun on the table, "he said in an interview with the Meet the Press program. Ohana added," I don't know what the gun is and who put it exactly, but it is very unfortunate for me to see how the system works. It is very unfortunate for me and also requires clarification and examination of how the system is being run. "

The Justice Minister addressed the petition against the nomination, saying: "The scenario that the Movement for Quality Government will file a petition was not unexpected, but known to all parties, and I was still impressed, at least according to what Orly said, that it was strong enough to stand it." Ohana added that "public trust is the most important thing and I think that is precisely why I sought to nominate Orly and this is because what I found out is that in professionalism she does not fall from anyone. So is her modesty."

Last night, Ben-Ari Ginsberg announced that she was giving up the appointment. In a letter she wrote, Ben-Ari Ginsberg said: "In the last few days, after about three decades of professional and dedicated work in the prosecution, what has happened to me so much that I believe is a 'devil dance' in the judicial system, of which I must be a part." She added that "I was elected by the Minister of Justice for the post of Deputy Attorney General and I am confident in my ability and my skills to play this role successfully."

In her letter, the lawyer noted that she refused to participate in the process in which Mionia was perceived as a political appointment. "Trying to make my choice a political matter and present it as part of a move designed to harm the rule of law, or the independence of the State Attorney's Office - has been unfortunate and has always contradicted my conduct and values." She added that "the atmosphere created threatens to damage the public's confidence in the prosecutor's office - to erode it even further. I am not prepared to cause further harm to the legal system, as long as I can prevent it."

The dispute over the appointment of the attorney between Minister Ohana and Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit began earlier this week, when the minister decided that Ben-Ari Ginsberg was to replace outgoing State Attorney Shai Nitzan, as opposed to Mendelblit's post that Deputy State Attorney Shlomo Lamberger be appointed. Following the petition's motion for quality of rule to the High Court against the appointment, and on the grounds of unreasonableness in the appointment, a temporary injunction was issued that frozen the prosecutor's entry into office.

In response, the Minister of Justice addressed the letter to Mandelblit, claiming that Ben-Ari Ginsberg's appointment came into effect because he signed her appointment a day before Supreme Court Justice Manny Mazuz frozen the appointment. The letter sent to the Court two days ago and published on Monday stated that "because the petition is based on an erroneous factual platform, the order designed to preserve the existing situation is irrelevant and the appointment is an act."

In response to Ohana's letter, the Court wrote in a letter to the High Court that even if the appointment was formally effective, Ben-Ari Ginsberg has not yet begun to fulfill the role materially, and the order should therefore be left unchanged. Mendelblit also made it clear that the court was "empowered in exceptional cases - such as the one before us - to issue an interim injunction, which is a 'made order'."
