US President Donald Trump officially co-founded a new Pentagon force tonight (Saturday) to be responsible for space warfare - the US space arm. The new corps, which will be the first of its kind in 70 years, will operate under the U.S. Air Force.
In his remarks at the U.S. military base near Washington, Trump argued that space was "the newest area of warfare." He added that "in light of the serious threats to national security, American supremacy in space is crucial. We are leading, but not leading enough. But very soon, we will lead a lot."
Funding was approved during the night, with the president’s signature approval to allocate $ 738 billion to the U.S. Army’s annual budget. The launch of the space arm will be budgeted at $ 40 million starting in the first year.

The space arm will be based on the U.S. Army Space Command starting in August, and its establishment is designed to deal with US military operations in this arena. Secretary of the Air Force Barbara Barrett said the arm, headed by General J. Raymond, would include about 16,000 soldiers and civilians.
