Lattakia-Sana
Hymns and songs in 13 languages praised by the throats of 32 young men and women from the St. Ephrem Syriac Patriarchal Choir led by Maestro Shadi Sarwa during a Gregorian evening entitled “From the East” I revived this evening in the Church of Our Lady of Latakia for Maronites.
The fresh voices, the perfect performance, the diversity and the harmony among the members of the band were enough to bring joy to the hearts of those present, old and young, in a wonderful Gregorian atmosphere.
Bishop Boutros Kassis, the Patriarch of the Diocese of Aleppo and Lattakia, through the Orthodox Syriac, in a statement to SANA correspondent, expressed his pleasure to host the choir coming from Damascus, because the people of Lattakia city participated in their celebrations of Christmas, indicating that the celebrations coincided with the new victories that the heroes of the Syrian Arab Army are fighting against terrorism.
For his part, Sorouh, the director of the choir, said that today's event falls within the series of "Sons of Life" evenings in its fourth season and titled "From the East" because the birth of Jesus and the good news of salvation started from this country and moved to the world.
He explained that most of the songs and songs were in eastern languages such as Syriac, Chaldean, Coptic and Eastern European countries that witnessed the first beginnings of Christianity, such as Russian, Hungarian, and Far Eastern countries such as China, Japan, and others.
Sarah Latifa and Nahla Aweys, from the choir members, made it clear that the goal of the event is to deliver a message of love and peace, spread the atmosphere of Christmas and sow joy in the hearts of everyone because the Syrians are a people who love life and joy.
From the audience, I spoke to Beba Skiv about her happiness and joy in the distinctive atmosphere that these Gregorian evenings bring.
