The Minister of Public Security, Gilad Arden, intends to make a decision this week on his candidate for the position of 19th Commissioner of Police. He hoped yesterday that approval of the appointment would not be delayed by the Goldberg Commission for Senior Public Service Appointments.

The organization must not be considered a young officer who has advanced rapidly on the ranks, yet professional and esteemed, a comfortable and beloved man of his police officers.

Stands a friend (57) married and father of three. He holds a BA in Social Sciences and a Master of Business Administration. He is considered an experienced field man, a tough officer and uncompromising demands from his commanders, and yet he is well-liked by the police. He commanded the spaces of David and Moriah in Jerusalem, served as head of the Police Training Department, served as deputy commander of the Northern District and head of the Traffic Division. In February this year, he was appointed commander of the Jerusalem District.
