(CNN Spanish) - The temporary minister of Bolivia, Karen Longaric, said Monday in La Paz that her country and the Foreign Ministry are respectful of diplomatic immunities and the privileges of embassies. Longaric emphasized the entry of the public force into the Mexican Embassy is "categorically impossible", since diplomatic relations are covered by the Vienna convention.

The statements of the transitory foreign minister arise after the Government of Mexico, through a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed concern about the “excessive” presence of Bolivian intelligence and security services personnel that according to the Government Mexican monitors both the residence and the Mexican Embassy in La Paz, Bolivia, since last November 11.

The Government of Mexico asked the Bolivian State to fully comply with the obligations set forth in article 22 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and recalled that the regulations stipulate that the premises of the mission are inviolable and that the agents of the receiving State cannot penetrate them without consent of the diplomatic mission.

Mexico also remarked that the receiving state has the obligation to adopt the necessary measures to protect the premises of the mission against intrusion or damage. Relations between the transitional Government of Bolivia and that of Mexico became tense in recent weeks because the Government of Presidents Andrés Manuel López Obrador decided to welcome former President Evo Morales after his departure from Bolivia and denounce a coup d'etat to overthrow the Bolivian leader Morales resigned from the presidency on November 10.

According to the Bolivian Government, five of the former officials of the Government of Evo Morales against whom the authorities of his country issued arrest warrants are inside the Mexican diplomatic headquarters in La Paz as asylees.
