Hong Kong: tear gas and batons in shopping centers

In Hong Kong, demonstrators and security forces have engaged in violent clashes in shopping malls. Many Christians celebrate Christmas in the former British colony.



Thousands of demonstrators dressed in black have taken to the streets in Hong Kong's Tsim Sha Tsui tourist district and have clashed with the police. She used tear gas against the activists. According to the police, the demonstrators put up roadblocks and damaged traffic lights. There were also demonstrations in at least five shopping centers, which also escalated violently.

In the luxury shopping center Harbor City, the demonstrators discovered a group of civil police officers and pressed them. The officers arrested several demonstrators and the police also used pepper spray and truncheons. In another mall, a protester crashed and was taken to a hospital.
