Algeria-Sana
Media outlets reported that Algerian mourners today expelled French Ambassador to Algeria Xavier Driancourt from the funeral of the former chief of staff of the Algerian National People's Army, Lieutenant-General Ahmed Qayed Saleh.
A video tape taken from in front of the main street adjacent to the People's Palace in the Algerian capital, showed thousands of protesters calling on the French ambassador to leave the place after he came to participate in the funeral.
Faced with massive public pressure, the convoy of the French ambassador was forced to move away amid popular anger and chants of anti-French policy.
The team, Saleh, died yesterday, at the age of 80, after a heart attack.
