Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that the presence of a terrorist enclave in Idlib cannot be tolerated.
Russia Today quoted Zakharova as saying in a press conference today: "On our part, we are taking steps to keep the situation in Idlib under control, but it is obvious that there can be no tolerance without end with a terrorist enclave there."
Syria confirmed that the Syrian Arab Army's ongoing operations in Idlib to liberate it from terrorism are part of a Syrian policy and position based on liberating every inch of its territory from the abomination and desecration of terrorists.
On the other hand, Zakharova explained that the situation in the Syrian island region is "still fragile" due to the continued illegal presence of the American forces, stressing that "the balance reached there is still fragile" and that the reason is due to the continued illegal presence of the United States and its allies in that region and the attacks Israeli repeated on Syrian soil.
Washington continues to keep its forces on Syrian soil within the framework of the illegal coalition it leads to claim to fight the terrorist organization "ISIS", as well as its role in supporting terrorist organizations and financing them within its plan to undermine the sovereignty, unity and integrity of the Syrian lands and prolong the crisis.
On the other hand, Zakharova said in her response to the US sanctions imposed on the gas pipeline project (North Stream 2): "I will not talk about the nature of the response of the Russian side exactly, but as you have heard from Russian officials at various levels, we will always respond to such measures."
The official spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed Moscow's disappointment over the extension of the European Union sanctions against Russia, saying that the European Union missed the opportunity to move forward by improving relations with its largest neighbor on the continent.
In addition, Zakharova announced that Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will visit Moscow on December 30th, stating that the visit aims to hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on a number of international and bilateral issues.
