(CNN) - A man was rescued in Austria after being stranded in an avalanche for five hours, emergency rescue services in Graz announced on Christmas day.
The mountain rescue teams of Gröbming and Styria, along with the rescue dogs and the Alpine working group of the Styrian police, tracked the man buried under a meter of snow.
He was found after his electronic avalanche victim transceiver took the team to its location on Mount Pleschnitzzinken in the northwestern area of Upper Styria in Austria.
The victim was removed from the snow and received first aid before being taken to the hospital and treated with severe hypothermia.
