The works of musician Farid Al-Atrash, musical, cinematic and lyrical, still live among us. His tunes are part of our culture, and his developed and new tunes are mixed with popular tones to possess the foundations of immortality through time.
Dr. Fayez Al-Dayeh presented, within the series “Flags and Creators” issued by the Syrian General Book Authority at the Ministry of Culture, the history of this artist and the events and difficulties that he went through to demonstrate the human potential inherent in him when his will and knowledge of his goals in life emerged.
Al-Daya begins his book from the childhood of Al-Atrash in Al-Qarya, his family’s move to Egypt, his affiliation to the Arab Music Institute in it, in addition to his beginnings with the oud and his influence on his mother, who possessed many musical talents and the beginning of its spread through radio to open the doors of concerts and record on CDs.
Then the writer reviews Farid Al-Atrash's journey with the cinema, which he started from "Victory of Youth" with his sister, Asmaan, bringing his number of films to thirty-one and establishing his own production company.
Al-Dayeh draws attention to the healthy model who afflicted Al-Atrash, the role of his friends in his life, his transition to living in Beirut and his death on December 26, 1974.
Al-Dayeh notes at the end of his book that what distinguished Al-Atrash as a musician is the adaptation of the tunes that play Western instruments such as guitar to play the oud, in addition to the original tunes that he presented with glossy musical phrases that attracted the world's musicians to sing.
It is mentioned that Dr. Fayez Al-Dayeh is a professor of rhetoric, criticism, and semantics at the University of Aleppo. He has a collection of books, linguistic and critical studies and is a dramatic writer and consultant in a number of cultural journals.
