Rong Haien He Junxian appointed member of ICAC Complaints Committee for two-year term

The Government announced the appointment of four members of the Independent Commission Against Corruption Advisory Committee and the Independent Commission Against Corruption Complaints Committee. Among the newly appointed members are Rong Haien, He Junxian, Di Zhiyuan and Liu Yanqing, all of whom are new members of the ICAC Complaints Committee. In addition, Chairman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce Xia Yalang and Executive Director of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals So You An were also appointed as new members of the Advisory Committee of the ICAC. The relevant term will take effect from January 1, 2020, and will last for two years.

In the ICAC Complaints Committee, the government announced the appointment of Legislative Councillors Rong Haien and He Junxian, Di Zhiyuan and former Director General of the Consumer Council Liu Yanqing as new members, while Lin Jianfeng was re-elected as the chairman of the committee. This committee is responsible for monitoring the ICAC's handling of non-criminal complaints made by the public against the Agency, reviewing procedures and measures that the ICAC may cause, and making recommendations when necessary.

Charlene joins committee for review of reports of corruption

The government also announced the appointment of four members of the Advisory Committee. Among them, the Chairman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, Charlene Xia, has been appointed as a new member of the Advisory Committee on Review of Corruption, and the former Director of Audit, Tang Guobin, has been re-appointed as Chairman. The Advisory Committee is responsible for monitoring the ICAC's investigations, reviewing investigation orders issued by the Commissioner of Independent Commission Against Corruption, suspects who have been released on bail for more than six months, and investigations that lasted more than one year. On the Anti-Corruption Advisory Committee, Su Huan, Executive Director of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, was appointed as a new member of the Association. The Association is responsible for listening to and requesting the Independent Commission Against Corruption to report on relevant government departments, public agencies, and private organizations' practices and procedures that may contribute to corruption. It also advises the Commissioner of the Independent Commission Against Corruption on the items to be reviewed and related priorities.
