Today, the final qualifying tests for the Syrian Scientific Olympiad for the year 2019-2020 held by the Excellence and Creativity Commission in the sciences of "mathematics, physics, chemistry, informatics and biology" with the participation of 411 male and female students from the elite talents of scientific excellence in various governorates.
The final qualifiers that were held under the title "Excellence is a responsibility .. You have led it" included two rounds of tests over a period of two days, each one lasting four hours where the tests of "mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology" subjects were conducted at the Ebla Hotel in Damascus while the informatics tests were conducted at the College of Engineering Informatics at the University of Damascus to choose the members of the national teams that will participate in international and international Olympiad competitions next year.
In a statement to SANA, Malik Hammoud, director of the media office at the Excellence and Creativity Authority, said that the central scientific committees in the administration of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad began to correct the answers sheets with the end of the tests, and the outcome of the marks of the two rounds will be taken, according to which the final ranking of the marks and the ranking of the participants will be calculated indicating that the number of those qualified has been increased to membership National teams for this year to become 15 students in each discipline instead of 10 of the first students in the qualifiers.
Hammoud pointed out that the top 15 students will be honored and crowned in each specialty, while the top three students will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals in addition to material and in-kind prizes during a ceremony held tomorrow at the Palace of Congresses theater in Damascus, considering that reaching the final qualifying stage is an important achievement and success for students In their academic career.
Member of the Central Scientific Committee for Physics at the Syrian Scientific Olympiad, Dr. Aqeel Salloum, praised the efforts made by students to reach the last stage of competitions, indicating that the physics test included atypical questions and a set of issues that mainly explored the student level in the information and knowledge that he learned in the basic education stage And the beginning of secondary education on the one hand, and measuring the level of thinking reached on the other hand.
And Dr. Abi Fund, Chairman of the Scientific Committee for Informatics in the Syrian Scientific Olympiad considered that the Olympics is a pioneering experience at the level of Syria to discover and care for distinguished people in addition to that it is a competition that helps to develop the student's thought and development, noting that secondary students are receiving it to participate in it year after year, especially in the informatics subject where the number reached Participants in its current final exams to 93 new and old students.
Ahmed Rami Rahma, a sixth year medical student and trainer at the Syrian Scientific Olympiad with a mathematics specialization, spoke about his experience in the Olympics, where he indicated that he participated in the 2012 Olympics competitions and succeeded in reaching the last stage and won the second position at the level of Syria and then traveled to several countries to represent Syria in international competitions And achieve his ambition, noting the experience he is currently playing in the Olympics, which is training new students and giving them the experience he gained during the past years to follow the Olympics career and continue to raise his banner.
A number of students confirmed in interviews with SANA that the questions of the two rounds tests were characterized by accuracy and the need for deep thinking and expressed their hope of winning in the first positions to be among the national teams of the Syrian Olympiad. Great, during which we met friends from the same intellectual level that we possess and gave us self-confidence and the courage to express our thoughts without hesitation or fear of rejecting them.
From the governorate of Raqqa, student Muhannad Muhammad Izz al-Din, an associate of physics, said that the Olympics is an opportunity to enhance students ’educational, educational and social culture and develop a way of understanding life, indicating that the questions of the first round of tests were characterized by ease, while their difficulty increased in the second round today, but nonetheless managed to answer them.
From the governorate of Aleppo, the student Ahmed Kabbani, an associate of physics, drew attention to the great demand of students in his governorate to participate in the Olympics competitions and to the motivation and training they received from their professors to be distinguished in it.
From Homs Governorate, the two students, Ali Omran, a participant in chemistry and Obaida Al-Samman in physics, pointed to the benefit they obtained through their participation in the Olympics tests, in addition to their acquaintance with new friends from various governorates in the field they love.
The Syrian Scientific Olympiad competitions for the 2019-2020 season were launched at the school level on the fourteenth of last October with the participation of more than 75 thousand male and female students of the first secondary school students from various governorates and then continued at the level of regions and then at the governorate level and up to the final stage Current.
And the Syrian scientific Olympiad teams achieved 39 achievements in international and international competitions for the year 2019, distributed between silver and bronze medals and certificates of appreciation.
