The fifth deck brings the length of the viaduct to the west to 200 meters, a stretch that adds to the first 50 meters launched to the east in recent days. The viaduct will be 1,100 meters long. The fourth Ponente deck, launched between piles 7 and 8, weighs 609 tons and two side covers. The operation that raised and laid the deck to 40 meters high lasted an hour. This new segment represents the stretch adjacent to the central decks, 100 meters long, which will cross the Polcevera stream. With 11 piles in completion out of the 18 total, work continues at the same time for the assembly of the decks on the ground, in the west as well as in the east, the PerGenova (Fincantieri-Salini) consortium in charge of the reconstruction knows.
