Advisor to the Leader of the Iranian Islamic Revolution for International Affairs Ali Akbar Velayati reiterated his country's position rejecting foreign interference in Syria and the region, stressing that the presence of the American occupation forces is illegal and contradicts international laws.
Velayati said during his meeting today with a delegation of Syrian clan elders that Iran opposes foreign interference and stands in the face of conspiracies and plans to divide countries in the region, noting that his country refuses to establish a so-called "safe area" in Syria, indicating that it contradicts the interests of the Syrian people.
He described my mandate the presence of the American occupation forces in Syria and the theft of its oil as "piracy and inconsistent with international laws," stressing the need to stand up to this blatant attack to steal the wealth of the peoples of the region.
Regarding the strategic relations between Syria and Iran, Velayati said, “Our destiny all requires us not to be silent if a state in the region is attacked by cooperating with each other and standing up to confront it,” stressing the need to liberate the occupied Palestinian territories from the Zionist entity.
For their part, Syrian tribal elders affirmed that the American Zionist plot paid from the money of the Bani Saud regime tried to target Syria, but that with the steadfastness of its people, army, and leadership, and in continuous coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran and the allies, Syria was able to withstand the crisis.
The delegation referred to the distinguished historical relations existing between Syria and Iran, expressing their appreciation to Iran, the government, the people and the people for standing beside Syria in the terrorist war that it was exposed to.
Larijani said, “Mr. President Bashar Al-Assad proved during this crisis that he is a wise and resisting president.” He added, “The Syrian people are a great people who are jealous of the interests of their country. The Syrian Arab Army was distinguished by its sophisticated performance and high efficiency and was able to fight terrorism supported by America and (Israel) and some European countries and, unfortunately, some Arab countries and that conquers conspiracies.
Larijani stressed the need to liberate the city of Idlib from the terrorists, pointing to the positive role of the Astana meetings in resolving the crisis in Syria, stressing that the Syrian constitution "is written by the Syrians themselves without external interference."
On the Israeli aggressions against Syria, Larijani said: It is evidence of the occupation's anger at the victories achieved by the Syrian Arab Army with the support of the allies and the axis of resistance against terrorist organizations.
For his part, the delegation of the Syrian clan elders stressed the need for continuous coordination between the two countries in order to contribute to the reconstruction of Syria, especially the areas that were totally freed from terrorism.
The two meetings were attended by the Syrian ambassador in Tehran, Dr. Adnan Mahmoud.
