It was a race for four in Calabria where on January 26th we will return to the polls for the choice of the new Governor, to be elected together with the members of the new regional Council.
At the starting grid there are, for the center-right, the deputy and regional coordinator of Forza Italia Iole Santelli, supported by six lists (Fi, Fdi, Lega, Santelli president, Udc, Cdl); the entrepreneur Pippo Callipo, who has on his side the Democratic Party, a list of subsidiaries of the association "I stay in Calabria", the "Democrats and progressives" and "10 ideas for Calabria", the latter training on which, however, hangs the axes of a possible exclusion.
The university professor Francesco Aiello, for the 5 Stars Movement and for the "Calabria Civica" list, and the former head of the regional Civil Protection Carlo Tansi, supported by the "Tesoro Calabria", "Calabria Clean" and "Calabria" lists Free ".
Re-compacted the front after the fibrillations linked to Matteo Salvini's "niet" in Occhiuto, the center-right regains unity around the candidate for president Iole Santelli and hosts many outgoing and some singular new entries. The regional councilor Giuseppe Neri, elected in the past legislature with the "Democrats and progressives" list, direct emanation of the Democratic Party, is for example a candidate with the Brothers of Italy. The UDC, another party which is alongside Iole Santelli, also hosts Antonio Scalzo, elected in the Democratic Party and who, always at a high altitude, was for a period president of the Regional Council, who recently passed through the "Moderates" , close to Raffaele Fitto.
News also from the parts of the candidate Pippo Callipo, who managed to impose his "conditions" on the formation of the lists. The former mayor of Isola Capo Rizzuto, Carolina Girasole, takes the field with the tuna industrialist, on the list with the Democratic Party. There is no shortage, on both sides, of the mumbling of the excluded: from the former Democratic Party Enzo Ciconte, landed in the center-right, who opted for the return to the medical profession (he is primary cardiologist) to Francesco D'Agostino, who he expressed all his disappointment at Callipo's veto on his behalf.
