A hard hand against terrorism, and not just a campaign

Defense Minister Naftali Bennett's last and most important steps can only be welcomed. Yesterday, the Cabinet approved a NIS 149 million deduction from the funds Israel is transferring to the Palestinian Authority - the amount that the PA handed over in 2018 to "Shahid" families and wounded by terrorist attacks against Jews. That sum joins the terrorist freeze law passed by Deputy Minister Avi Dichter and MK Elazar Stern a year and a half ago, which states that at the end of each year, the Minister of Defense will submit a report detailing PA spending on terrorist salaries. These terrorist salaries, courtesy of the Palestinian Authority, amount to over NIS 1 billion a year, no less.

Who would have thought we would be saturated so much by a subset of three election campaigns that pushes right-wing ministers and MKs to implement the policy for which they were elected to the Knesset. Minister Bennett knows it is his "man-time" and is acting accordingly. Last week he signed a seizure order for funds transferred to eight Convicted, Arab-Israeli terrorists who have been convicted of terrorist offenses and also receive monthly salaries from the PA. This is the first time that the State of Israel has been acting directly against Israeli terrorists, and it is wondering why during all these years no security minister has come to mind forfeiting the funds transferred to these terrorists, and why the money seizure order works only against eight terrorists and not all. The money seizure order reaches a cumulative amount of hundreds of thousands of shekels a year, and just like the demolition of terrorist homes - here too, the threat that the High Court will torpedo the move.

While the International Criminal Court in The Hague decides to promote the possibility of investigating war crimes on the part of Israel - we must rise to the attack. Foreign and defense ministries must join in the real war, the fight for consciousness, and pump the Palestinian payment method that encourages the murder of Jews. The message of "You've Murdered - You Got More," or Pay for Slay, must be live on any international news system. The fact that the most lucrative profession in the PA today is a terrorist and a murderer of Jews, must be clear to the countries of the world.

In 2018, President Trump signed the Taylor Force Act, which states that the United States will cut one-third of the money it transfers to the Palestinian Authority until it stops funding terrorists. There have been similar requests from German and Norwegian governments, which have not matured. The only country in Europe that has taken real steps is the Netherlands, which received Very recently a law that prevents the transfer of funds to the Palestinians until they stop financing terrorism.

Israel must embrace a more firm message, and instead of constantly sending its aid to the Palestinians, it must repeat the simple fact that our neighbors' culture encourages the murder of Jews. Pictures of distribution of sweets after each attack must be distributed on a regular basis, as will the interviews with the grieving mothers boasting of their son's murder. The world must understand that Israel is reaching out and will always reach out to peace, but with all due respect to the International Court of Justice in The Hague, the party that must press it to stop educating its children for murder, hate and violence - is the other side.
