Ouagadougou-sana

At least 14 people, most of them students, were killed today when an explosive device exploded as a bus passed northwest of Burkina Faso.

"An improvised explosive device exploded at the passage of a joint transport mechanism at the intersection of Tueni Tugan in the Soro province bordering Mali, killing 14 people and seriously injuring four others," the French Press Agency quoted security sources as saying.

The sources pointed out that most of the victims were students who were returning to their study area after spending the end of the year with their families, noting that the outcome is ready for the rise, while security and other relief teams rushed to the site of the explosion.

On the other hand, the Burkina Faso Army Chief of Staff said in a statement today that another attack targeted a gendarmerie unit in Ainata, north of the country yesterday, explaining that the gendarmerie elements were able to confront the attackers, and that "about a dozen terrorists were neutralized, and confiscated various weapons, ammunition and equipment, in addition to drugs."

Burkina Faso, bordering Mali and Niger, has been subjected to special terrorist attacks in the north and east of the country, which since 2015 have killed about 750 people and displaced 560,000 people.
