End of episode? The 19-year-old British woman convicted of investigating a group rape case in Paris will receive a pardon from state president Nicos Anastacadis, the London Times website reported today.

Sources in the British government said that President Anastasiades was expected to approve the young woman's departure from the country, despite her conviction following heavy pressure from the London authorities on the Nicosia government.

The decision comes less than a day after British Foreign Secretary Domink Raab declared that his country was reconsidering its travel warnings to Cyprus, an implied threat to Nicosia that British tourism might be damaging to Mediterranean policy, severely damaging the country's economy.

The young woman's lawyer today told media outlets in the UK that he was worried about her being held in the Cypriot prison as she has now been granted "celebrity" status in the country and she may be harmed by it.

Recall that the British young woman whose name is not allowed in advertising was convicted of raping rape by 12 Israeli young men she met during a vacation on Ayia Napa Island in Cyprus last July. Initially, the Cypriot police were about to accuse the Israelis of group rape, but at one point the young woman returned from her testimony against them - and then she turned from accuser to defendant.

The Cypriot court has ruled that the young woman decided to sue the Israeli young men for raping her after discovering that they had photographed her during sex with them. As a result of her conviction, she was sentenced to 14 months in prison.
