The outbreak of unexplained pneumonia in Wuhan has not yet been identified. The government formally gazetted this morning (8) to include "severe new infectious pathogen respiratory disease" as a statutory notifiable infectious disease with immediate effect. Doctors should report fever, symptoms of acute respiratory infections, or symptoms of pneumonia and have visited Wuhan within 14 days before the onset of the disease. Regardless of whether they have been to a market or seafood market, they must notify the CHP for further investigation. The Hospital Authority announced today that eight additional suspected cases in the past 24 hours, aged between 3 and 61, were all in stable condition and are now being quarantined. The total number of suspected cases has increased to 38.
