The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Zhang Jianzong, visited Hong Kong International Airport today (January 8) to inspect Hong Kong's preventive and control measures against pneumonia cases in Wuhan, Hubei Province.
Zhang Jianzong also urged the public to strengthen personal and environmental hygiene measures and wear surgical masks when symptoms of respiratory infections appear.
Zhang Jianzong, accompanied by Lin Tianfu, Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Airport Authority, Dr. Liang Yaokang, Chief Port Health Director of the Health Protection Center of the Department of Health, and Zhang Lijiayu, Executive Director of Airport Operations of the Hong Kong Airport Authority, inspected the health protection of the Department of Health at the gate of an incoming flight in Wuhan. The central port health department staff used infrared thermal imaging cameras to monitor the temperature of passengers, and informed the relevant personnel about the implementation of preventive and control measures at the airport in Hong Kong.

Zhang Jianzong emphasized that although no severe pneumonia cases related to Wuhan have been found in Hong Kong, the government has comprehensively strengthened prevention and control measures, including health surveillance and sanitary measures at entry and exit points. In the inter-departmental action group meeting he led earlier, he also asked all relevant government departments to be more vigilant and strengthen the cleaning of public facilities under the department.
