Al-Ali indicated in a statement to the SANA representative that the Directorate of Finance last year collected 45 million Syrian pounds for transporting garbage from various activities, such as hospitals, hotels, restaurants, etc., and 10 million and 500 thousand pounds of hygiene control during the same period, where 4 thousand seizures were organized against violators of Cleaning Law No. 49 For the year 2004.

The Maintenance Division of the Directorate, according to Ali, manufactured 150 metal containers of various sizes and installed 3 thousand plastic trash cans in all streets, neighborhoods and markets of the city, pointing out that the number of containers distributed in the city streets reached 6 thousand containers of various sizes.

Al-Ali pointed out that the Directorate, in cooperation with the concerned directorates, rehabilitated the Pullman Garage, deporting cars from the Soufania Garage in Bab Touma to the Garoniya treatment plant, and removing rubble and scrap machinery from the industrial city of Hosh Plus.

And between Al-Ali, the Directorate carried out a clean-up campaign for the city’s entrances, which included the northern entrance, starting from the panorama of the immortal leader Hafez Al-Assad to the Qaboun complex, the Adawi Highway and the entrance to the southern tower, and the removal of rubble and dirt from the sidewalks and the entrances from the Daraa Highway and from the project that destroyed Node 16 to the Al-Alam Circle roundabout in a suburb Qudsaya in order to restore the glory of the entrances to the city of Damascus.

The Director of Hygiene pointed out that the city is divided into sectors that supervise each engineer sector. Each sector includes a group of centers amounting to 30 centers, pointing out that the directorate suffers from a shortage of workers and drivers.

Al-Ali called for adherence to the rules of public cleanliness in terms of times to throw garbage and put it in the places designated for it and not throw rubble, dirt, restoration and construction waste outside the containers or on the main roads.

Al-Ali said that the cleanliness directorate in Damascus Governorate is making great efforts to raise the level of cleanliness in various regions and achieve a better environment by sweeping streets and lanes on a daily basis and transporting and deporting waste at a rate of 3 times daily and rinsing the streets according to a permanent program in addition to migrating medical waste separately from hospitals, health centers and clinics The laboratories are transported to the treatment sites.
