Quiet freeze, too quiet

This freeze is too quiet. On the construction freeze in Jerusalem - on the airplane hill and on the Wall of Wall, and on E-1, the real right of the Likud, from Elkin to Yariv Levin, not to mention Smutrich and Peretz and Bennett and Shaked, had to establish a shouting voice, threatening and pressing because Saturday, "says Jerusalem, Netanyahu rejects, and political elections and calculations. Mayor Moshe Leon is also expected to "turn some tables," as some of his predecessors did in similar situations.

This freeze in Jerusalem is the least nice part of our relationship with one of Israel's most friendly US presidents, and it's time we talked about it too. It seems that in the case of Jerusalem it is a "bear hug". No free gifts. For all the good that Trump gives us, we pay. In exchange for moving the embassy and recognizing Israeli sovereignty in the Golan and declaring that the settlements are illegal - all from the emblem, and the ceremony, and the identity and legal status - we pay in hard currency, which in the long run is more expensive: settlement failure.

The settlement will determine the boundaries of the future of Jerusalem, and not the American embassy that moved here. The embassy moved to Jerusalem, only because the Americans recognized the facts Israel had set in the United city. The facts were not created because of the embassy transfer, but vice versa. But Israel has ceased to establish Zionist and colonial facts in Jerusalem.

Here, in the capital of Israel, Netanyahu has repeatedly succumbed to international pressure, leaving black holes at strategic points in the fight for the integrity of Jerusalem. On the hill of the plane between Gilo and Mount Walla, the Palestinians plan to create their own settlement sequence, from Bethlehem, through Sharafat and Beit Safafa. This is one of their last opportunities to divide Jerusalem and stick a wedge between the Jewish neighborhoods revealed to the west and Ramat Rachel and Har Homa to the east. Also the corridor that connects Jerusalem and Ma'aleh Adumim - the area of program E-1, Israel is about to lose, because the Palestinians have been building there illegally for years, but Israel is not building and freezing there either, and now - 2,000 housing units in Har Homa are also frozen.

The settlement is the one that, in the past and in the future, will draw the boundaries of Jerusalem, not the foreign embassies to move here, nor international recognition and charters. The international recognition will eventually bring the facts and the map of construction in Jerusalem. Not upside down. Instead, Israel is mistaken and crowded and is building Jerusalem west - rather than east - and succumbing to international pressure that freezes construction in the capital of Israel. Even the "Biden Procedure", which required the planning bodies in Jerusalem during the Obama era to coordinate with the Prime Minister's Office any construction in the Jerusalem area beyond the Green Line - is still in effect.

So what exactly is "right" here? And why do the many Jerusalem lovers who surround Netanyahu discount him? What is the terrible gap between the high-pitched talk of United Jerusalem and the disgraceful silence surrounding the construction freeze in the city?
