Dankner began serving three years in prison on October 2 last year after being convicted of securities fraud in the "running" IDB shares. In addition, the capital market man with me Strum was sentenced to two years in prison under the affair. The two were sentenced by the Supreme Court in August 2018, after appealing the sentence sentenced by the Tel Aviv District Court two years earlier. On the other hand, the State Attorney's Office appealed and sought to impose a more severe sentence on them - and this was accepted, in the decision of Justices David Mintz, Neil Handel and George Read.
The ruling deals with the issuance of IDB shares in February 2012. Dankner and Strom acted so that Strum purchased through his company, ISP, a large amount of the shares offered to the public. This created an artificial demand that affected the share price. The company was able to raise NIS 321 million on the same offering, of which 62 million were purchased by controlling shareholders or stakeholders.
